Standing at Centre Court

As the new recreation centre takes shape, it opens a world of possibility.

The feeling was overwhelming as I stood in the construction zone, on the freshly poured concrete slab while it continued to be framed around me. Walking into the space allowed me to feel and see the scale of the project. The architectural style has a WOW factor unlike any gymnasium I've ever experienced. It suits cottage country with its rustic elegance, yet it stands out in a remarkable way.

The Recreation Centre will be an incredible addition to Rosseau and the greater community. It will be a place where young athletes will be inspired to become the best version of themselves and where retired athletes can reignite their passions.

Taking in the ambience, my mind began to wander, thinking about all the activities that will happen in a space like this. Imagine the performances, celebrations, gatherings, and so much more. A recreation centre brings people together, but even on quieter days when you stand alone, it connects you to something bigger than yourself. It reminds you of the human experience and how—through sports, the arts, and community—we connect and we thrive. This will be a place for athletes to train, for musicians to play, and for wedding receptions to be held. Whether you come with a group or on your own to shoot hoops, this space will be special.

I cannot wait for the grand opening and to see how this magnifies the experience of the RLC student.
