Other Important Info for International Students
VISA and Study Permit
Once you have been accepted to Rosseau Lake College and the first instalment payment has been received, Admissions will send you an acceptance letter. In it you will find your acceptance, the grade you will be entering, and the specific dates that you will be attending the school. This letter will facilitate the initial processing of your study visa.
Visa
You must apply for a visa. To apply, contact your nearest Canadian Embassy or Consulate or go to www.cic.gc.ca for information. Once a Student Visa has been granted, you will receive a confirmation letter which is required when you arrive in Canada. Immigration Canada replaces the letter with a ‘Study Permit’ which is added to your passport. This permit must be renewed on a yearly basis.
Please Note:
The time to process a visa application and study permit varies greatly from country to country. Please visit the Immigration and Citizenship website to find out the normal processing times for your country. If there are a number of applications to be processed, this time can be longer than stated on the website. Students from Africa should allow 3–6 months for processing time.
Guardianship
By law, all International Students must have a guardian resident in Ontario. If you do not have a legal guardian, one will be provided to you through our partner International Student Guardianship Canada Inc. (ISGC).
Health Insurance
It is mandatory that all non-landed, offshore students attending Rosseau Lake College have medical insurance coverage while attending. Global Excel offers excellent health coverage, including coverage for prescription drugs. Application forms will be provided by the school. Please see the ‘What does it cost?’ section for the cost of health insurance.
Immunization Requirement
Under Ontario law, all students, domestic and international, are required to have appropriate immunization prior to entering Rosseau Lake College. The Medical Officer of Health is required to enforce this regulation. All students are required, by law, to satisfy the requirements. Documentation, translated into English if necessary, must be submitted to the school prior to your first day of classes.
