Spring Arts Festival

Please join us at the Annual Spring Arts Festival where RLC students will showcase their many artistic talents!
Date: Saturday, April 22nd, 2017
Location: Muskoka Woods Hanger
Time: 1:00 pm
Cost: $12.00 per adult (students are free)

The RLC Drama Club is performing High School Election, written by faculty member Mr. Randy Girdner. “High School Election is a classic triumph-over-evil tale, or in this case, super nerd-beats-cool guy. In a school where only the popular vote counts, a few students decide to take election protocol into their own hands.” In addition, there will be musical performances by the RLC Jam Band, Choir and Concert Band plus a stunning selection of our student’s media and visual art will be on display.

the FOOD…

The Culinary Arts Club is working diligently on an exceptional menu for this event.  You will be amazed by the creativity of the fare prepared and served at intermission by RLC students.

Our very dedicated Parent Guild is gathering some amazing items for this year’s silent auction.  Proceeds from the auction will be used to financially support non-capital expenditures that improve student life on campus.  Last year’s proceeds were used to renovate the “Hub”.  This year we are excited to announce the money will be used to build an outdoor classroom and recondition the climbing wall.

To donate an auction item or purchase tickets please contact Pam Bissonette: and/or call 705-732-4351 ext. 13

Thank you very much for your support of this community event.

Years of Service Recognition Dinner

On Friday, April 7th, 2017, RLC held their first “Years of Service Recognition Dinner” for Colleen & Len Beaulne, Linda Sinasac, Sherry Smith and Sherry Schade.  Student waiters served the guests an elegant meal prepared by our Kitchen Staff.  Despite a 5-hour power outage that same day, Bob and Lori managed a fabulous meal.  Thanks to everyone who helped make this evening a success.

Grade 10 Media Arts Class

On April 4th the Grade 10 Media Art class went on a field trip to Mike and Jackie Watkinson’s sugarbush farm. We went to taste the maple syrup and see how it was made. On the walk to collect the syrup there was a huge hill/pit that we all jumped off and had fun in the snow. Students took photos for Media Arts class by using different lighting and angle techniques. Students tried 3 types of the maple syrup starting with the sap.  Then 25% syrup, 50% syrup and 100% syrup). On the way back to the van, we jumped off the hill into the pit again and Parker jumped the furthest in the snow.  Luke Watkinson an alumnus of Rosseau Lake College was home from Alberta visiting.  We would like to thank Luke for driving us in the school van to and from the school and also Mrs. Watkinson for arranging our visit.

Weekend Activities

Last Saturday we went to Perplexity Escape Room in Barrie. We chose this activity because it was very exciting and it was very challenging for us. We were locked in a pirate’s hold and we had to find clues in the room in order to escape. Although we tried our best, we couldn’t get out but we still had fun. Afterward, we played pool, which was quite fun as many of us had never played it before.

On Sunday, we went to Sugarbush Hill Maple Farm. We were looking for a Canadian experience so we signed up for this activity. We tried different kinds of syrup and then saw where the sap was collected. We tasted the sap, it tastes like sugar water. We were shown the procedure of evaporation which turns the sap to syrup. It takes 40 buckets of sap to make 1 bucket of syrup. We also were able to try many different animal calls, and we received a turkey feather as a gift. We got some souvenirs to share with our families and we had a great day!

RLC 50th Anniversary Celebration Invitation

Dear Rosseau Lake College Community,

With excitement, the Future Forward 50 Steering Committee would like to invite you to join us for Rosseau Lake College’s 50th Anniversary Celebration on our beautiful lakeside campus.

As a graduate of 1992, I had the privilege of attending the school’s 25th anniversary. It was a fantastic event, and I have never forgotten it.  Twenty-five years later, I am so pleased to be the Chair of a 50th Anniversary Steering Committee made up of alumni, parents, past staff and RLC board members.  We have organized an outstanding celebration, taking place on June 17, 2017, following Rosseau Lake College’s 50th Closing Day Celebration.

Students, parents, alumni, staff, supporters and community members are invited to join us for a day of reflection and celebrations under a beautiful lighted marquee in the centre of campus.

This semi-formal affair includes:

  • Freshly prepared hors d’oeurves during reception and gourmet plated sit down dinner catered by Crossroads Restaurant
  • Open bar with cocktails & dinner wine
  • Live entertainment and music by Two for the Show
  • Complimentary shuttle buses between J.W Marriott The Rosseau in Minett & Rosseau Lake College
  • 50th  Anniversary Celebration cake prepared by the Rosseau Lake College kitchen

Sponsorship Opportunities are also available.  For more information on the Future Forward 50 Gala event or to purchase tickets online click here

50th Anniversary books, commemorating the history of the school can also be purchased through the brand new online RLC School Store.  To access the store click here

We are excited to see past headmasters, faculty members, board members, parents and the RLC alumni in June.  The event would obviously not be complete without the current parents, families and students of Rosseau Lake College. Together we can ensure the 50th celebration will be remembered for years to come.

I look forward to seeing you in June.
