English As Second Language (ESL)

Students whose first language is not English are required to take a test to determine whether they need to take an ESL course to improve their writing and speaking skills. The test will be administered by our specialist who will establish individual levels and determine an appropriate level of study. If an ESL course is required, a fee of $1,000 will be charged to the student’s personal account at the beginning of each month. ESL is taught in both semesters in Grades 6 – 10. The student may be granted one credit of study for the successful completion of 110 hours of instruction.

Financial Aid

Families are welcome to apply for financial aid in the form of a bursary. Bursaries are awarded by the school after parents complete a confidential application through Apple Financial Services. Rosseau Lake College then receives an analysis of the applicant’s financial ability to contribute towards educational expenses. The Apple Financial Service recommendation is reviewed by the Rosseau Lake College Financial Aid Committee. Bursaries carry no obligation of repayment and will be renewable provided the student remains in good standing. However, families must reapply annually to demonstrate ongoing need. Bursaries are funded by donations from alumni, individuals, and fundraising efforts. These funds ensure Rosseau Lake College is accessible for more mission-appropriate students, regardless of their families’ financial situation.

How to apply for a bursary:
Families must complete the online Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS), which is available at Apple Financial Services. Completed forms, including a non-refundable application fee of $120 are submitted online to Apple Financial Services for analysis to determine need prior to consideration by the Rosseau Lake College Financial Aid Committee.

Financial Aid Committee Decisions
An analysis from Apple Financial is provided and reviewed by the Rosseau Lake College Financial Aid Committee. The school’s financial aid budget does not meet the needs of all applicants. The Financial Aid Committee distributes awards as broadly as possible to students in need. The school holds this information in strictest confidence and families are asked to do the same with all awards.
